Sherlyn Chopra's Kamasutra 3D
The video clip to Rupesh Paul’s Indo-U.S. production Kama Sutra 3D opens to a lilting dance chant accompanied with a tabla, it then reveals Sherlyn Chopra as if playing with a lamp flame. Starting with a close up of Sherlyn caressing her feet, we see a low angle shot of her, gracefully treading into a garden. She’s wearing a translucent red ‘lehenga’, unaccompanied by the all important ‘choli’. Mindless of her ambience; she plucks a flower and makes to adorn her hair revealing her breasts in the process. The next few visuals, though tastefully shot and composed, have a gleefully stretching Chopra advertising her assets - front, close up (front), top, side - the works! The chants and tabla tease you all along embellished with a harp and mellifluous chimes. The video ends with a close up of a teardrop falling down her cheek and Sherlyn extinguishing the lamp she was getting all playful with. We see the film’s title appear amidst what seems to be the Milky Way and the compulsory closing shot of a nude Sherlyn caressing herself on the bank of a sunlit rivulet. Kama Sutra 3D is based on Vatsyayana's Kama Sutra, the sacred Indian sex manual. With breathtaking visuals, beautiful music and Sherlyn Chopra in familiar territory, let’s see if the film will live up to its foreplay. |

Kamasutra 3D trailer out: Sherlyn Chopra goes topless yet again New Delhi: Actress Sherlyn Chopra, the first Indian woman to pose nude for international magazine Playboy, will now be seen topless, yet again, in Rupesh Paul’s Kamasutra 3D. The trailer of the film is out and Sherlyn, who rose to fame for her provocative semi-nude images on Twitter, is again back in her topless avatar in the film. Looking delicate and beautiful in a montage of images that show the actress in traditional jewellery and a red lehenga, sans the top, while she smiles coyly and strikes poses. The entire trailer has a traditional Indian instrumental music playing in the background. “I am glad to have Sherlyn on board. She has the earthiness and sensuality that her character requires. This will be a redefining film of her career,” Paul had previously said in a statement. A screengrab from the trailer Besides Sherlyn, there are two more important characters in the film which might be played by known Bollywood actors. The director hasn’t given out any more details, but said: “The casting is on and all I can say now is that it is going to be the surprise package of the film”. Finding actors for his film hasn’t been a cakewalk for the director. “I got mixed reactions from the actors that I approached. While a few of them gave me the cold shoulder branding my film as graphic porn, most of them appreciated the bold idea,” added Paul. He strongly refuted the association of Kamasutra with porn. “India is known as a land of Kamasutra. The epic erotica is as significant as Gita or Ramayana. It is not just about sensuality and eroticism. It is a struggle of human mind to understand one of the most important areas of life. It is pathetic to relate this ancient scripture to porn,” he said. “If you go to Paris, every coffee shop will have an abridged version of Kamasutra. The ancient scriptures are read and appreciated by millions of people abroad and we never owned it. It is such a shame,” added Paul. There is another reason why the director has decided to release the film in 2013. “Indian cinema is completing 100 years in 2013 and an epic film like ‘Kamasutra‘ should release in the same year. The film will do the rounds at various international festivals and it will be in a way celebration of Indian culture also apart from Indian cinema” he said. The movie’s initial trailers, shot by Sapan Narula, was first screened at Los Angeles in November 2012 and later at the Berlin International Film Festival. Earlier, Mira Nair’s Kamasutra: A Tale Of Love, released in 1996, dealt with the same book but for all its controversy failed to set the cash registers ringing. IANS |
