A handsome young male classical violinist experiences his sexual awakening one summer when a trio of Nordic beauties travels to his hometown, which is out in the middle of the Swedish nowhere, which, of course, is the reason why everyone swims nude. Anyway, the boy's home life is a little stifling, as his mother and other female relatives (his father is dead, thus he is the only male in the house) tend to smother him. In an early scene, he gets up from his bed completely naked and stands in front of his elder relatives in order to prove he is a grown man, and then his teenage sister comes dancing into the room with her transistor radio pressed to her ear, but upon seeing her brother's nudity she forgets the music and develops a serious lust for him. He then has a sexual encounter with a female by the sea on the rocks as his also naked sister watches with obvious jealousy. Days later, swimming nude again, he runs smack dab into the Nordic trio of cuties, all of whom, as we see through flashbacks, have developed odd sexual hangups, one of whom being raped by a priest which causes her to re-enact the scenario for pleasure again and again, and eventually does so with our hero, in a perverse scene that is quite out of place in this otherwise conservative yet butt-naked-flesh-everywhere film. Eventually, the sister's lust boils over and the siblings are close to giving in to desire. "One Swedish Summer" boasts beautiful location photography as well as exquisitely beautiful music on the soundtrack, a combination of classical baroque and late 60's Europop. This is contrasted with close-up shots of female pubic regions, full-frontal male nudity, and several brushes with themes of voyeurism and sadomasochism. The cast is especially good, with lead brother and sister Hans Gustafsson and Lillemor Ohlson playing their roles with much verve, and Swedish exploitation kitten Gio Petre is on hand, usually topless, in a couple of scenes. My Lover My Son (UK). Released in English and French in early 1969, and in German in 1969 or 1970. Filmed in 1968. Starring Romy Schneider and Dennis Waterman. Titles English: My Lover My Son; French: L'Inceste; German: Inzest; Italian: Uccidi Uccidi, ma con dolcezza (Kill, kill, but gently).
The theme music in this film is very good, and has importance in conveying the emotions of the main characters. IMDb has the wrong date of first release. This was NOT the showing of the English version at a film festival in the USA in May 1970. The film was on sale on videocassette in French from early 1969 and was also being shown in French in picture theatres. As far as I can make out from publicity from the time, t was shown in picture theatres in the UK in English from early 1969. I don't know yet when it was first shown in picture theatres in German. The copyright date on all versions is MCMLXIX. This film closely follows a novel, as can be seen from the opening titles. At the time of filming, Dennis Waterman would have been 20. The character he plays is supposed to be 18. I personally think it would have been better to rewrite the story to make the character the same age as the actor. Romy Schneider would have been 30 or 31. Obviously the character must be meant to be at least six years older than that. This is the first time EVER that this movie has been on the internet WITH THE ORIGINAL ENGLISH DIALOGUE. It is also the first time it has been posted in high definition. This film was never put onto disc in any language. Videocassettes were sold, but only for a few years. The French videocassette is very rare. Current asking price is 90 Euros. The German one is just as rare. The ENGLISH videocassette is so rare as to be considered unfindable. Vasakula has posted the version dubbed into French, in medium definition, on this board and on another that you will all know. The German version has become available on a pay internet movie site in the last couple of weeks. This version is in better than medium definition but not high definition. I have the French version copied professionally from the videocassette, and intend to make a high definition computer file from it. I also have the German version. Don't confuse Blood, Canada 2004, with La Coupure, Canada 2006, both about brother-sister sex. And both with the flair, subtlety, imagination, and depth that Canadian productions commonly show. Make sure you haven't already seen it. DON'T CONFUSE BLOOD CANADA 2006 WITH LA COUPURE CANADA 2004, BOTH ON THE THEME OF BROTHER-SISTER SEX. From IMDb. BLOOD is an adaptation of a play by the same name. It's a dark comedy that revolves around a brother and sister desperate to have sex with each other. The sexual tension between the two main (and only) characters was authentic, which they later confirmed during the Q&A. What makes the film truly unique is that it was shot in one long take, four times. And they just chose the best one. The dialogue is thick, biting, and hilarious. The characters even seriously injured each other during one take and kept on going. The entire film was shot on a Montreal sound stage, with a couple of exteriors. The director explained how he tricks the eyes of his audience into not being bored by one small set by having each room a different color, and then using an occasional split screen during rapid dialogue. I thought that was pretty cool because it totally worked on me. I like the fact that the director replaced the main characters, originally intended to be in their late forties, with young twenty-somethings. I think the sexual tension would have seemed weird and gross otherwise. Instead it was actually pretty hot. This is what Canadian film is all about. Parts of 100MB. Don't confuse La Coupure, Canada 2006, with Blood, Canada2004, both about brother-sister sex. For the first time ever on the web, here is La Coupure (Torn Apart). Discs of this film are absolutely unobtainable even secondhand. How did I manage to find one secondhand? By trying everywhere constantly for months till one turned up in Quebec and I snapped it up quick before it vanished. It was not cheap, but you all get the benefit. My links are the first to appear on the internet. This film is not on sale and probably won't be again.  From IMDb. I saw La Coupure recently at the Denver Film Festival and thought it was a very good film. Well acted and written with a story I had not seen before. The director was there and spoke very well. He said that he was intrigued by the painful situations that incestuous relationships cause after reading a book by a psychologist who had several such patients. He said that he has since spoken with several people in such relationships, including those that have come up to him after screenings and telling him about their lives. He asked the audience before the screening to be open minded. He felt that many people in their lives have loved the wrong people yet been unable to break up the relationship and he hoped that viewers could relate to the film on that level. I feel that he succeeded in presenting a difficult subject matter in a sympathetic light. Another review. Two people are caught up in an all-consuming and forbidden love in this drama, the first feature from director Jean Chateuvert. Christine (Valerie Cantin) is married to Mario (Michael Kelly), a successful businessman, and is the mother of two children. However, Christine has a lover, a man she's known long before she was married -- her brother Christophe (Marc Marans). Both Christine and Christophe are aware of the dangers of their incestuous relationship, and have both attempted to stop it -- Christophe even introduced Mario to his sister in hopes that they would hit it off and their affair would come to a end. But neither Christine nor Christophe have the strength to put an end to their relationship, and while Mario has recently earned a promotion at work that will necessitate moving to a new city (a job Christine urged him to get), she hasn't had the courage to tell her brother the news. FIRST POSTING WITH SUBTITLES ON THE INTERNET. From IMDb. Sarno made this credible, and incredibly erotic film in early 1969 Sweden. There is very little nudity in the film, though Sarno has said that the one print known to exist, currently released on DVD as a "bonus feature" in the United States, is missing footage. Sarno made a fine film the following year ("Daddy Darling") about a young woman's incestuous desire for her father, and in "The Indelicate Balance" Sarno reverses the sexes by telling the story of a mother who is sexually attracted to her adult son, who has just returned home after four years of absence, now married and seemingly happy, but certainly not without Sarno's type of emotional baggage. The rest of the family, with the exception of the son's new bride, knows of the incestuous situation, but of course nothing is done about the matter until the tensions have built to an intense, drama-filled climax. If Sarno set out to make an erotic film that rivaled Bergman, he could not have done a better job. The acting by the entire cast is excellent -- none of these actors seem to have been in any other Sarno film. While the indoor scenes were shot in studio, the exteriors were shot on Swedish farmland in the middle of a very harsh winter, and the endless snowfalls and cold adds an even more claustrophobic feeling to a film that, from the start, is rife with tension and uneasiness. Although I haven't gone into very much detail about the plot, there isn't much more to tell, just a true-to-life story of family tensions that are probably all-too-real and could be going on today in any home in your neighborhood. Once again Sarno proves he can make an intelligent, erotic, respectable film that deserves its re-release. The print on DVD seems to be from several sources -- the font of the subtitles is different in some scenes than in others -- and the print is damaged and choppy in spots, but again this is the only version known to exist, so we must relish this diamond-in-the-rough that only Sarno could have cut.
